How to Freeze Cucumbers

There are a couple of ways you can freeze cucumber, but both are super easy and quick to do and don’t even take too much preparation time. How you choose to freeze the vegetables will depend on how you intend to use them when you thaw them out:

How to Freeze Cucumber Slices

If you want to use the cucumbers in soups, juices, or mix in with a recipe, your best bet is to freeze them in chunks or slices. Avoid slicing cucumbers too thin, however, as they will breakdown rapidly in texture: Wash: Wash and dry your cucumbers thoroughly. If you want peeled cucumbers, then do this now. Chop: Chop up the cucumbers however you prefer – either in slices, chunks or even in whole sections. Flash Freeze: Pop them onto a baking sheet and put them flat into the freezer for a few hours to flash freeze. You want to freeze the outside. They do not need to be frozen through. Bag Up: Once they have frozen, remove them from the baking sheet and pop them into a freezer bag. Final Freeze: Name and date the bag, and you have a supply of cucumber to use whenever you need it. Can You Freeze Cucumbers Whole? Although you can freeze cucumbers whole, it’s not something we would recommend. It will take up a lot of room and you’ll have to thaw the entire cucumbers to use it. Instead, freeze it in portions to avoid unwanted waste in the future.
