People now eat to treat their taste buds more than to take care of their health. They are even ready to try combination of foods that Ayurveda states as contradictory combos. As per Ayurveda, regular consumption of contradictory food may cause skin diseases and arthritis. You can improve your immunity and lead a happy and long life by following some strict food habits. It is said that most food items contain small traces of toxins, which usually don't affect the body. However, when combined with certain other food items, the amount of toxins that reach the body increases. Every place has its own unique diet and eating habits depending upon the season, climate, and availability of food items. Off late, the culinary trends have been altering significantly in Kerala owing to the changing lifestyles. People tend to turn away from indigenous food items and traditional methods of cooking to fast food that appeals to their taste buds better. Consuming meat and eggs of chickens injected with hormones should be avoided. Similarly, make sure that organically grown vegetables are included in your diet. Vegetables that are purchased from outside should be soaked in salt water for at least 30 minutes and then washed well under clean running water. It is always better to grow a small patch of vegetables in your backyard or terrace to get fresh and organic vegetables.

These are some of contradictory food items that do not go together:

Milk, buttermilk, honey, urad dal and sprout grains shouldn't be eaten with fish.

Milk and sour foods should not be eaten together.

Urad dal, pineapple, jack fruit, toor dal, shrimp, mango, mushroom, tender coconut, horse gram, blackberries, and mutton, too, shouldn't be combined with milk.

Consuming milk and milk products alongside vegetables.

Similarly, beef wouldn't go well with milk, honey, and urad dal.

Do not eat banana with buttermilk or yoghurt.

Honey and ghee are contradictory food items.
