Speed Keto is a new form of the diet that is said to boost weight loss, increase energy, and decrease sugar cravings even more than traditional keto. But is it really worth it? We’ll weigh the pros and cons. Please keep in mind that we are not doctors or medical professionals, and we always highly recommend speaking to your own doctor prior to starting or taking any supplements or making lifestyle changes. NOTHING in this article is medical advice and should not be taken as such. These are simply general concepts, not prescriptive information or health advice. We cannot emphasize this enough! Proceed at your own risk.

So, What Is Speed Keto?

Speed Keto is a combination of the traditional low-carb, high-fat diet of traditional keto, but also incorporates intermittent fasting. This means that you would fast for a set amount of time each day, and then eat within a certain period. For instance, you may fast 16 hours and eat within an 8 hour window. When you do eat, your meals should follow the keto diet. While many people on keto already intermittent fast, Speed Keto allows you only one meal per day. According to the creator, this makes you enter ketosis more quickly. One of the supposed benefits of Speed Keto is that it can help you overcome weight loss plateaus. That can be very tempting for someone who has been on traditional keto but has stopped losing weight.

What Are The Issues?

One of the biggest problems with Speed Keto is that it’s simply not something you can do long-term. The quick weight loss can feel amazing, but eventually, you’ll more than likely want to come off of the diet (or just want to eat more than one meal a day). It can feel very restrictive to only be able to eat certain foods at certain times, and such strict diets are almost never sustainable for long periods of time. Once you do start eating more or get off of the keto diet, you are way more likely to gain the weight back. Traditional keto has its own risks, including low blood pressure, an increased risk of heart disease, and kidney stones, just to name a few. Doctors advise that it’s not the right diet for people with gallbladder, liver, thyroid, or pancreas issues. Adding the keto diet to strict intermittent fasting could potentially lead to even more medical problems.

So Should I Try Speed Keto?

Ultimately, it’s up to you and your doctor or nutritionist. As we mentioned, keto is not the right fit for people with certain conditions. Before starting any lifestyle or diet program, it’s important to ensure it’s the right fit for your body by talking to a medical professional.

What is the difference between keto diet and keto pills?

A ketogenic diet (“keto diet”) is a type of low-carbohydrate (“low-carb”) diet that is focused on consumption of protein and fat. So-called “keto pills” are those that claim to boost ketosis, which is a process in which the body burns fat instead of carbohydrates for energy.

Keto pills or supplements alone cannot help you lose weight, although they may increase the levels of ketones in the body. Burning fat produces ketones, chemicals made by the liver. Keto pills contain sources of ketones, including keto salt, which are usually a mixture of electrolytes such as magnesium and potassium, minerals such as calcium, and keto compounds such as beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), a ketone produced by the liver when the body is in ketosis. Currently there’s no evidence that keto pills or supplements alone can cause weight loss, or that adding keto pills to a keto diet can help you lose extra weight. Some small studies have found keto pills may increase the levels of ketones in the body when they are used, however, the increased ketones did not lead to weight loss when compared to people who followed a keto diet and did not take keto supplements. Some animal research suggests the compounds in keto pills may help burn body fat, but more study is needed.
